The following letter was published on the first page of Al-Quds Newspaper on September 22, 2001 (Al-Quds newspaper is a major Palestinian newspaper published daily in Jerusalem)
"In the name of the
American people, I should like to offer my sincere thanks to all those who
offered their condolences and sympathy and shared with us our sad times.
We highly appreciate the letters of condolences that were sent by hundreds
of Palestinians, individuals and institutions. This tragedy has touched
the feelings of all of us, and we hope it will be a lesson for us all
which reminds us of our common humanity.
